Bowlegged Moose Land Acknowledgment

Bowlegged Moose acknowledges with reverence and respect that the waters and lands we so enjoy, and the land on which we operate, are located on the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabek—the Three Fires Council of the Odawa (Ottawa), Ojibwa (Chippewa), and Bodowadomi (Pottawatomi) peoples.

We further acknowledge that the land known today as Berrien County is comprised of lands acquired under the 1821 and 1833 treaties between the United States and the Three Fires Council Native American peoples.

Our recognition of the history of this land we love so much is simply an expression of gratitude and appreciation to those on whose ancestral lands we live, work, and play. We cherish the beautiful waters and lands of the beautiful state of Michigan, and we are incredibly grateful for the great care with which the Anishinaabek have given and continue to give to this land and our local community.

As a token of our appreciation and gratitude, Bowlegged Moose is happy to donate a percentage of our proceeds to the Eyaawing Museum and Cultural Center which was created by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians to establish, gather, interpret, and maintain a record of the history of the Grand Traverse Band of Anishinaabek.

Thank you.
